Short Biography of Muhammad Ali Jinnah

There are no words to describe a person of Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah's caliber. Jinnah was a Muslim, lawyer, statesman and more importantly the founder of Pakistan. He is known as Quaid-e-Azam in Pakistan and also referred to as Baba-e-Qaum (Father of the nation).

Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on 25th December 1876 in Karachi. Jinnah acquired his early education from Sindh Madrasa and soon after went to Karachi's Mission School. After completing his primary and secondary education he went to England at the age of 16 to pursue further studies. After four years of education, he became a lawyer and was included in the bar in 1896. He initiated his political career in 1906 by becoming a member of the All India National Congress and was successfully elected to become part of the Imperial Legislative Council in 1910. Jinnah developed his relations with the Muslin Leaders when he validated the Waqf Bill. In 1913 he decided to join the All India Muslim League which was a party representing the Muslim minority of the subcontinent.

When being part of the All India Muslim League, Jinnah tried to strengthen the Hindu Muslim unity as annual sessions of both the Indian National Congress and All India Muslim League were held together in Lucknow in 1916. In the year 1918 Jinnah chose his life partner and got married to Rutanbai. A year later he became father to a beautiful daughter named Dina. Jinnah's efforts to promote Hindu Muslim unity reached a climax after the Nehru Report was published in 1928. The report faced severe criticism from the Muslims and certain amendments were proposed. When these were rejected, Jinnah finally decided to part ways with the congress.

The first major contribution from Jinnah came when he put forward the 14 points in reply to the Nehru Report. With his valiant efforts to represent the Muslims of the subcontinent, Jinnah finally became the permanent President of the Muslim League in 1939. The previous two years were marked as a period of oppressive rule by the Congress and after it ended in 1939 the Muslims celebrated the Day of Deliverance. In 1940 the annual session of the Muslim League was held when the idea of Pakistan was presented for the first time ever. After Jinnah's brave efforts throughout the time he was President of the Muslim League, Pakistan came into existence on 14th August 1947 and he became the first Governor General of the country. My. Jinnah faced several problems as Governer General including the refugee problem, the assets being held back by India and the Kashmir issue. Despite all these problems he did not get wobbled and devised an impressive economic policy, an independent currency and formed the State Bank of Pakistan. He made Karachi, which was the largest city of the country, the Federal Capital of the country.
