What design of paper airplane flyies the farthest¬?
Hypothesis
I believe that the wider the wing span the farther it will fly and that the shorter the wing span the least farther it will go.
Procedures
1) Create 8 different types of paper airplanes using http://www.origami-kids.com/
2) Go to the gym to throw the paper airplanes
3) Measure the distance from the point thrown
4) Throw each paper airplane five times recording everything
5) Create a graph
Materials
8.5 x 11 inches plain copy paper
Computer
Paper
Pencil
Measuring tape
Variables
Independent test variable
The different types of paper airplanes
Dependent test variable
The distance the paper airplanes fly
Controlled test variables
The strength used to throw the paper airplane
The setting (place, temp., climate, and wind)
Amount of times each paper airplane is thrown
Results
Original got the first place. The second was Wide Fenix; the third X-Hunter; the forth Needle; the fifth Fly; the sixth X-Glider; the seventh FF2; the eighth Mouse.
Conclusión
Overall, my test results did not support my hypothesis. The winner, the Original, did not have a wide wing span. The second place, Wide Fenix, did have a wide wing span, but the third and fourth place did not have a wide wing span. Therefore, a wider wing span was not a key factor for longer travel distant
