A Review of "Prime Mover"
This article, "Prime Mover," was very interesting to me, because I learned the earlier history of my favorite make of automobile. My grandfather was able to own the later Model A, which my dad worked on in his beginning years of becoming a mechanic. This article would be great for anyone interested not only in Ford history but also anyone who is interested in automotive history. We take our cars for granted, but we should realize that at one time it was a luxury for only the rich. This article tells of a revolution in the automotive industry thanks to Henry Ford in 1908.
The article of "Prime Mover" tells of a very important step in American history of the transportation industry. This article tells of the ambition of Henry Ford to create a vehicle that anyone could afford on an average salary. The Model T's were a vehicle that also gave women an opportunity to travel more easily on their own. Women didn't have to depend on the strict time schedule of trains, limit of locations to which to travel, and having to depend on a man when something went wrong, such as getting stuck in the mud. Not only did the Model T give more freedom and luxury to the average family, it also gave traveling freedom for women and families.
Even though the Buick was made before the Model T, it wasn't affordable for the average family. This article tells many stories of families' first experiences with the Model T Ford. Some stories are of families able to make quick runs to the store or just out for a ride. There are stories of families able to take a vacation for the very first time without having to stay in a motel, due to its versatility. The Model T even became known in car races. This was all made possible because of the inexpensive parts that anyone was able to repair it. Though farmers were reluctant to change from horse and buggy, they started to realize the more economical use for the Model T. It also allowed them to get to and from town quicker.

I would recommend it anyone interested in the history of the automobile industry and American history. There was a time that automobiles were only for the rich, but thanks to Henry Ford's vision, everyone was able to afford the Model T. This was a versatile car that anyone could drive any distance. Also anyone could afford to buy it and repair it. This was a great time in American and automotive history.
