Abstract
Looking at the Phase 2 project we are we given the task of researching the resistance to change in large system-change programs and address the key points. We will find out the concept of resistance to change and, the various types and levels of resistance to change. One type of resistance to change will be chosen and discussed. In this discussion the resistance that was addressed will be broken down in each of its stages in the change process. Then last we will see what resistance in change that we foresee happening.
Lets start by explaining the concept of resistance to change .So looking at this concept it is described as an action, this action is taken by individuals and groups it normally happens when the foresee oncoming changes that pose threat too them. This is why change management even incentives within an organization fail. So to describe it in a nutshell it is just the way human resist to change for survival. Looking at the different forms of resistance of change as it happens .You would see flair to adapt, verbal criticism, also failed commitments and many disagreements. Looking at the reason this happens is that they anxious, facing ignorance when it comes to what is happening, the al so face inadequacy. These factors all are just fear of what will happen.
Now lets look at the various types and levels of resistance to change. The Resistance of change can be broken and put into three levels. Here they are Organizational level resistance, which is reference to those who resist change that happens at an organizational level. This will happen because they are many defenses and organizational conflicts, organizational structures and the functional area due to confects or power. Next is Group level Resistance; in this the problem is in a group level within a team environment. This happens when there are different thinking group members. This happens to when there is many change of commitments within the groups. Next is Individual level Resistance, this happens when there are changes that come about from the individual from empires because of fear of failing or insecurity about the job itself or rule in the organization. (Val & Fuentes, 2003).
Looking at the type of resistance of change that was chosen to would be shown in the 4 S's of resistance. They are resistance to support this happens when there if fail our to support a new process by individuals. This is cause by employees misunderstanding about their job at hand. This then moves on to the employee fearing that they will lose their job. So basically it turns from one little problem to a wide spread problem from the individual because of one misunderstanding. Then next is resistance to skill, this happens when the happens when one faces the anxiety and uncertainty of new task at hand and not being to handle the new work procedures of process then failure is eminent and then the resistance to change then develops (Machida, Tapping & Camp, 2004). Next is resistance to stress in this type of resentence is due to change too and is taken by the individual
