AA Highway a Death Trap
This highway known as many names, AA Highway, KY 10 or KY9, regardless which road name that is speaking of it always comes up with the same scary answer? It is very dangerous road. Many of us take roadways for granted. However, all should fear this highway and we should ask our government why this highway has so many accidents. When traveling this highway the chances of you being in an accident or seeing one are very likely. Fog, Deer, or the numerous access roads entering the highway is the question we keep asking.
Construction started in 1993, named after John Y Brown, Jr. The road is 137 miles long going from Ashland to Alexandria. Mason County says the road originally built as an evacuation route for the power company called Moscow no research found shows that documentation. As directed, The University of Kentucky College of Engineers performed an intensive study, which was given by a legislative action, a traffic safety study for the AA highway in 1999-2000. Experts Kenny Agent and Jerry Pigman performed this study ended up with a 54-page report that includes research of visibility, signage, lighting, turn signals, and road striping at each public and private access. All accidents identified by location and by fatalities, major injury, non-injury, and minor injury. Causes for the accidents summarized and suggested recommendations made to reduce the high level of accidents on this highway.
