Preparation Worksheet #1 - Religion- Why Bother?

* The word "church" means an assembly or a convocation of people, who have been called together usually for a religious purpose. Church also refers to in Christian usage, all the people called together by God in all ages and throughout the whole world.
* The Church in the world and the kingdom of God are not the same thing
* Katharine Drexel, served the Native Americans and African Americans. Elizabeth Ann Seton began orders of women to teach the increasing Catholic population in the US.
* Pope Leo XIII addressed the rights of workers in light of the troubling conditions produced by industrialization and wrote "On the Condition of Labor"

* This is similar to the movie "The Mission" because they are called to address the needs of the Guarani just like many of the saints were called to address the needs of some other group.

* I can relate to responses to new social problems. Many people in hospitals are depressed and alone and how is one to get better if they feel that way mentally. That is why I do pet therapy, to help someone and give them the encouragement they need to recover and hope.
