Regional issues influence the business
Townsville is the Queensland's northern capital, located in the east of north Queensland and it's a casual, tourism city. It is a fast growing city, and has a high level of urban construction and facilities, so that is a big city without long distance. And the Magnetic Island is only 15 minutes on a boat from Townsville. Magnetic Island has "relaxed tropical lifestyle, quiet secluded beaches, natural beauty, abundant wildlife and easy access to the Great Barrier Reef."(Magnetic Island, para1)
Form the primary research on the websites, there are varied type of accommodations in Magnetic Island, include hotels, motels, Resorts, serviced self contained holiday units, bed and breakfasts, holiday flats and apartments, backpacker resorts and holiday houses. And there are "3 resorts in this island."(Magnetic Island Accommodation, para1)
From the background information mention above, it facilitate the identification of several regional issues which likely to influence the business. First, Magnetic Island is a tourist resort, this is an advantage condition for the company to invest and build resort here. Then, there are only 3 resorts on this island and all of the resorts are not family resort. That means there has a relative loose competitive environment for the business. Both of those are the beneficial influence of regional issues for the business. But there are also has some disadvantage impact exist. One of the most limiting conditions for the company to develop business on this island is transportation. As mentioned before, the only traffic method from Townsville to Magnetic Island is ferry. This will impact delivery goods and materials, and also impact the customer come to the resort, because it is only accessible by boat between Townsville and Magnetic Island. For this issue, the company may consider that to add more boat for delivery materials and pick up customers.
