This essay is going to be on reforms and the change in Americans during the 1830's-1840's time period. Reform means ,make changes in something, typically a social, political, or economic institution or practice in order to improve it.By the early 1800's, the small arms industry in the United States had developed machines and machine tools that could produce standard parts that were required for mass production. Industrial production, especially of textiles and light metals, began to increase sharply in the United States in the 1820's. The greatest increases in manufacturing took place in New England. Industrialization also benefited from improvements made in rivers and canals. These improvements reduced the cost of transporting goods to and from the interior of the country.Beginning in the 1830's, industrialization increased rapidly throughout the Eastern United States. The iron industry in Pennsylvania made especially great advances as iron was adapted for agricultural tools, railroad track, and a variety of structural uses. By the 1850's, the quality and price of American iron enabled U.S. iron makers to compete with Great Britain's iron makers in the international market. During the mid-1800's, the agricultural, construction, and mining industries expanded as the population spread westward. Manufacturing accounted for less than a fifth of all U.S. production in 1840. My essay is on George Washington and his presidency. It will talk about everything that he has done in his life time. George Washington was elected president because he was an greatly revered and honored military leader. He got 69 out of 69 votes to be president. They day of the inauguration, Washington had to travel form his home in Mount Vernon to New York. He was known as the "Father Of Our Country". He married a widow, Martha Dandridge Custis, and they lived at Mount Vernon, Washington's plantation in Virginia on the Potomac River. Two issues/difficulties that he faced were was the lack of any precedent to follow. And trying to run and make a country brand new after a bloody war leaving the landscape of some areas devastated. The characteristics that George Washington had was that he was a strong leader he love his country.Washington began to be a soldier in his boyhood. Punctuality was one of Washington's strong points. When company was invited to dinner, he made an allowance of only five minutes for variation in watches. If the guests came late he would say : " We are too punctual for you. I have a cook who does not ask if the company has come, but if the hour has come." Another one of his characteristics that he had was his smile. More of them was that he was thoughtful, modesty, taste for literature and many more but those where is top two. And this is everything that I think you should know about George Washington.
