The purpose of a push promotional strategy is to generate brand awareness and promote a new product. It pushes its way to the consumers without them initiating the request. For example a new Pizza Place would start distributing menu's to local customer homes to promote their business and to create awareness among the consumers for their existence. It could also use email campaigns to to distribute products information and discounts. Once customers are aware of the products the new Pizza Place offers they will start searching for it online or visiting the place. This is when the pull promotional strategy comes into play. The pull promotional strategy uses advertising to create demand for the product among customers. At this point customers know that they want to purchase the product and would make their own online searches for example to obtain more information about the Pizza Place and to get some coupons and discounts.

I believe that both strategies are successful especially when the business is a start-up business which wants to attract more customers.
