Essay by katie1989 • January 24, 2013 • Essay • 317 Words (2 Pages) • 1,729 Views
Psychology, as you learned in this week's reading, is not a new field for study; it dates back to the ancient Greeks. Feldman (2011) lists some subfields to include behavioral genetics, cognitive psychology, and forensic psychology in Chapter 1 of your textbook, on page 7.
The class discussion for this week is to explore the history and influential people in the field of psychology.
List the historical perspectives in psychology and briefly describe (1-2 sentences) each perspective, including any theorist mentioned in the textbook who is associated with the perspective.
List the five current perspectives of psychology (1-2 sentences) and briefly describe each perspective, including any theorist mentioned in the textbook who is associated with the perspective.
Discuss which perspective, either historical or current, makes the most sense to you and why.
Please remember to cite the text and any outside sources used.
The minimum expectation for class discussions is to respond directly to each part of the discussion prompt and to respond to at least two other posts, either by a student or instructor, by the end of the week:
1. Submit one main post responding directly to each part of the discussion prompt.
This should be a substantive response to the topic(s) in your own words, referencing what you have discovered in your required reading and other learning activities.
You may use resources in addition to your textbook that support your post(s); however, you must mention the source(s) that you used in your post(s).
2. Reply to at least two posts. Responses can be made to students or to your instructor.
3. Responses to other individuals' posts should:
Expand on their ideas.
Discuss the differences between your thoughts and theirs.
Explain why you agree or disagree.
