Time is an important role that is usually overlooked in an everyday life. It defines people as they are dictated by the memories they carry. Further explaining the importance of time in our lifetime, I have decided to create an art piece that better illustrates this common noun.
The form of the piece will be created with acrylic paints. Acrylic paints allow me to feel comfortable with my medium as well as being an easy form to mix and blend. This type of paint dries quickly and can be thinned with water making it water resistant when it dries. During the process of painting, I may also create a water colour "look" as acrylic paints can be modified to that method. To use this type of paint, I will be required to have equipped a medium sized paint brush and a small outlined brush for details. Also, I will need a palette for mixing and blending the paint colours as well as a cup of water to keep my brushes clean. Most importantly I will need a canvas to paint on and if necessary, I may need an easel to place my canvas on. To better familiarize myself with the medium and the appropriate colours I would like to use for my painting, I will experiment and have a recording of the different paint colours that attract my attention for the piece. For this I will need paper, acrylic paints and a paint brush to explore different shades/colours and also brush techniques I may want to use within my piece. I believe that acrylic paints are best suited to the subject matter and the meaning I intend to explore because I can use the variety of certain colours that express more than one meaning. For example, red may express anger or love. Also, with this type of paint I can modify the appearance, the texture and other characteristics of the paint surface by simply adding water.
The theme I have chosen to show the viewers a part of time is anxiety. The imagery I mean to communicate is a face behind the twenty-four ribs within a body. The face will portray a tense mood with a mouth wide open as if it were screaming and eyes drooping downwards. This illustrates anxiety because I feel that people panic when they think that they do not have enough time or time is running out. The anxious feeling enables a person to create different symptoms and effects that flow through an entire body. Therefore, taking the middle of a human body will best explain this idea.
