The Planetarium
The environment in the Planetarium is very different from any other theater you come into. The building is round and there is a lot of history and knowledge when you walk in the halls and in the exhibition.
It is an organic structured organization on the main floor. By the desk and in the shop they deal with the costumers and handle unexpected problems, such as unhappy costumers, problems with tickets and orders.
The Planetarium is a U-form business organization, which means there is one boss who is in direct control of his employees. The Planetarium is a small firm, so there is no need for an M-form business organization. It is a simple structured organization (Mintzberg's models)
It has the only IMAX-projector in DK, so they have the monopoly on the product. They started by showing Omnimax-movies, but since the visitor-number has fallen they started showing 3D movies for the audience.
In the space-theater, it is a mechanic structured organization. The movies are planned , they are laid up in order, and there are competent workers to control it all and use their skills if there is a technical problem.
The cost of the experiences depends on the nature of movie.
Our experience
When we visited the Planetarium we watched a movie called "Vores kosmiske rejse" - translated to "Our cosmic journey".
We were greeted by two people at the front desk and we got our tickets. We arrived 30 minutes
before the movie started, so we had the chance to see the exhibition and the solar system in the ceiling.
We had our 'moment of truth' when we were placed in our seats in the space theater. The night sky was on the screen and a man guided us through it and told us about the zodiacs while pointing at them with a little arrow on the big screen. Our ophthalmoception (vision) was used, first in exhibition, then during the movie, with our audioception (hearing). But during the movie our tactioception (touch) was
activated. The feeling we got was a tickle in the stomach like we were on a rollercoaster. This is a feeling you can't get in a normal theater.
The technical and physical surroundings were such as: the big screen, soft seats and the little arrow. The man who worked there had a calm and clear voice and was very professional.
Service flower
Here is a short version of the service flower. After experiencing the Planetarium we used the information obtained and created the following from our perspective.
Consultation :
We were greeted at the front desk, where we got our tickets and were introduced to the exhibition and where to go, when the doors open to the space-theater.
Hospitality :
Everyone we encountered were very helpful and nice. The Planetarium keeps a high standard of service and the staffs are very aware and approachable.
Safe keeping :
There is no cloakroom for visitors going to the space-theater. If you visit the restaurant Cassiopeia
within the Planetarium, there is a cloakroom, but with no attendance - basically it is 'at your own risk'.
Exceptions :
They do make exceptions in some situations, but it is very rare that there is a need for it (for example they will watch your bag for you during a movie, if it is large).
Information :
You can collect information through personal contact with the staffs and from many posters with information about
