The article "Denver pit bull ban draws dog lovers' ire", Jeff Kass mentions from 1984 to 1989, quite a few injuries or even deaths were caused by pit bull in Denver. The city of Denver banned pit bull. In 2004, the governor Bill Owens declared that the city's banning was against law. I am not support the ban of pit bulls enforced by the Denver City Council. Banning Pit bull can't solve the problem.

Banning Pit bull is not a solution. Pit bulls were originally bred as bull dogs, meaning that they had to be powerful enough to bring down full sized adult bulls. People buy pit bulls because they want tough dogs that can attack and be violent, so the dogs are trained in a manner that promotes this. However, this quality is not inherent. If pit bulls were banned, dog owners who wanted dogs that could fight would just train another dog breed such as German shepherds to do the same thing. Therefore, banning pit bulls would make no progress.

If I owed a pit bull in Denver, I will move to other state that is not banning pit bull. Because pit bull as pet is one part of my family, I do not want my pit bull died. For instance, Owner A is a family who had the misfortune of picking a pit bull from the pet store, breeder, or pound. They've raised the dog as a pet, and it lives in a happy, loving home. It's harmless. Owner B is a drug dealer who bought a pit bull to protect his contraband. He has trained the dog to attack. The dog, obviously, is vicious and dangerous. The problem is with the owners, not with the pit bulls.

Pit bulls are not inherently dangerous. They are dangerous because they are purposefully trained as a breed to be dangerous. If pit bulls were banned, another dog breed would be trained to be just as dangerous and no progress in safety would be made.
