Phoenix Aviation Limited: Challenges Ahead 669
- Critically analyze the HR polices of the organization.
After read this case I noticed that something need to change in their HR policy. I will say one by one what they did in their HR policy. First we take the interview process, they selecting the candidates only two methods. Their policy in recruiting the employee is centralized recruitment policy. They select the candidates only by two methods. They are
- written test and
- final interview
This two methods are not enough to select the people. It is correct for small industry but it is a big aviation company. When we select only by this method we cannot know the people skill of the candidates. Because we didn’t conduct the G.D. when we conduct G.D. we will easily know the behavior of the candidates, people skill and communication. It is the first problem in the HR policy.
Then this policy will create the laziness to the HR department. Why I am saying this because the HR team will take the employees easily. By using this policy their work is easy. From recruiting the employee itself they have a problem then how they train the people effectively.
The training policy is somewhat good when comparing good because they motivating the employee by giving awards and something. But at the same will also discouraging when shifting the employee to the other department. This will create the job dissatisfaction the employee. They didn’t work to their full extent.
And the employees are appraised yearly once. It is also creates lazyness to the employees. Why I am saying for example if everyone assess only one time during the first and second that will not give the correct result. By this same if you assess the employee by yearly basis they will not perform correctly in their work. There is no job involvement and job engagement in the company.
In this policy counseling the employees will give benefit to the company. Because they can know the problems of employees. So we will counsel them and make them to feel free.
At last I tell that this policy have some advantage but more disadvantages. So first change the recruitment process and the appraisal process. The advantage is their personal department and their counseling method.
So this I suggest in this HR policy.
- Had you been a team leader how would you make the team more effective?
If I were be a team leader I will do lot of things. First one is I will be friendly with my team members and ask their previous life experience. Then I will make them to speak everyone at least in my team and then I will make my team members to be friend with other teams and department also.
After that they will it’s a company that we have comfortable zone. then I will tell what the work we are going to do here. It’s a HR department work but by seeing the policy I understand that there is no proper training for them during their training period. So I will do this for a effective work.
Then I will give some small work in their first two months and then only I will give more works to them because at first they have some fear whatever we do. So I will use this method for to take out their fear.
My aim is that my team members don’t go to personal department or counseling. For this if they open to me they will definitely work effectively because they will tell all the problems and burdens to me. From this I will develop my team members
At last my final aim is in future they are all became a team leader by my training. this steps will make my team to work more effectively. if I were to be a team leader I will do this all.
- When the documents were not immediately received what temporary measures the company could introduce?
If the documentation were not received immediately then it will creates more problem to us. For alternative we will need some stickers or something that will in the accessories. From this we can know how it engine is adopt to the aircrafts.
