Taking a Stand
The topic of abortion is a hot issue for many individuals in this country. There are people on both sides of the issue arguing to try and change the law. The United States has officially ruled terminations/abortions legal and a woman can seek out a procedure from a physician in any doctor's office, hospital, or family planning center. However, if you are in a situation where you are considering a procedure that will end your pregnancy; you should first carefully think about the negative impact that a termination will have on you.
There are many cons to having a procedure performed that will terminate your pregnancy and expel the fetus. Many individuals have strong religious beliefs and think life begins at conception. Post-Abortion Syndrome is a term that has been used to describe the emotional and psychological consequences of abortion. Whenever we go through a traumatic experience, and are unable to process the experience emotionally, we can expect a delayed negative reaction. We live in a society that ignores the painful consequences of abortion. Men and women who have experienced it feel they should deny it and because of this, they do not talk about and process the normal feelings of anxiety, fear, shame, guilt and grief which often follow the abortion. When emotions are denied and buried, they will often come back in a magnified form.
Some consider the procedure without thinking about the consequences and because of this, some argue for abortion: Many teenagers who find themselves pregnant cannot take care of the child without dropping out of school and ending their educational
