Stimulus factors: physical characteristics of the stimulus itself i.e. size, intensity, colour & movement, attractive visuals, position, contrast, expectations, interestingness, information quality. Large stimulus in noticed more than smaller one. Loudness, brightness, longer a scene is shown in an ad the better. Colour and movement are important. Noticeable. Attractive models have a strong affect. Placement of the object. Contrast with the backround.
2. Individual factors: characteristics that distinguish one individual from another e.g. personality, motivation, ability
3. Situational factors: other stimuli in the environment e.g. time pressure, crowded store
