Organizational Structure

I select Microsoft because it is innovative and embraces technology while other organizations do not. This organization understands its organizational structure bringing about innovation. Google has an understanding that they can hire from any country and they can use internet to conduct business. This model is very different from Sears in that Sears and Kmart merged but up to date they still have problems in managing their organization. Sears quit providing mail order catalogues to their clients a few years back. To them that business was booming but when they quit using it they lost business. I would say they went backwards. While Google expand to technology, Sears fails to do that. If Sears want to expand and improve in 21st century they must embrace technology for them to compete with their competitors. There are several tolls used in organization structure but for this particular debate I tend to use technology. Sears uses bureaucratic organizational structure. They have continuously changed their organizational structure maybe because their board of directors is not satisfied with what they do. Currently sears use a matrix organizational structure. They need to expand for them to compete and pick a performing organization structure and stay with it and probably they will succeed in future. Microsoft uses a virtual structure, (Bateman, 2011)

How Organization Functions influence organizational structure of an organization.

Planning and organization in an organization are essential features for an organization to achieve the highest level of success and efficiency. Microsoft is composed of a chief executive officer, executives, board of directors and technical and senior leaders. Since its foundation in 1975, Microsoft has grown and is currently one of the major providers of software. Microsoft has a productive and efficient organization structure. In an attempt to show how organizational functions of a company determine the structure of an organization extensive examination of Microsoft is carried out. Microsoft's design shows the best structure to accomplish its goals. Microsoft' organizational structure, design and management work closely together to achieve business objectives. For companies to function successfully, they need to have levels of authority as well as organizational structure. Employees in an organization are subdivided into divisions according to their experience and knowledge. The departments might include human resources, finance, operations and management. The second level of an organizational function is management. Management may comprise operational managers, top managers and executive managers. The last level comprises the Chief Executive and board of directors.
