Technology has always been around, whether it was when caveman discovered fire or the new iPhone that came out last year. Technology has impacted peoples lives in more ways than anyone could ever imagine. Technology has completely taken over the world and is one sign of being advanced and on trend. Some people believe that advanced technology has made life better, while others say it has more negative affects than positive. The reach technology has on our lives can be seen as good, detrimental, or somewhat a mix in-between.

Is too much of a good thing a bad thing? That is the question that can be asked when it comes to technology and how it affects today’s people. Technology, through the course of many decades, has really become quite advanced. Anyone can look up anything, contact anyone, and so much more by just tapping their smart phone. To most, this sounds way better than having to go to a local library and check out a book just to look up one question an individual might have on elephants. But is all this “access at your fingertips” stuff really that great for society as a whole? People can agree that a person has access to more than they ever had before and can interact on social media in various ways, but being on a phone does tend to make people less sociable. Being online always allows people to create an online persona basically; a person can manipulate how they are viewed over a phone or computer by having time to think about their responses via text or posting certain pictures or tweets they only want the public to see. In real life, talking to a person face to face doesn’t give an individual the luxury of planning out what they want to say or hiding certain things about them behind a screen. Basically, some could say technology has caused people to forget how to interact with one another. Over the phone, it is not a big deal, but in person? People forget how to act with one another and things become awkward, people become introverted, and conversations can’t be held. When someone walks into a room and they look around, it is more than likely almost everyone in that room will be on their phone. Even though technology has been beneficial to society, it can be see as a problem when the phrase, “No phones at the dinner table” is more common than you think.

Although technology has definitely interrupted the way people interact with each other face to face, it has some major benefits. Some people believe that technology has created a better world all together. People have access to anything they could possibly ever need. Emergency calls can be made in no time at all, memories can be captured and shared to friends with the press of a button, and people seem to just love being on social media! Technology definitely has reached more people than anything else. It allows people who might never have had the chance to meet in person due to distance or possibly because they would never of known of each others existence, possible! Through common interests and social media, people from all over the world can befriend each other. Technology also allows research to be done much more efficiently and to some extent, gives a greater range of information that is updated constantly. In the world we live in today, it is obvious that without the technology we have now, our daily lives would be drastically different and frankly, people would be in quite a panic. Overall, technology has definitely made people happy and improved their daily life.
