Summary of OJT Experience
For a working student like me, finding a company for my internship wasn’t really necessary, because I can have my internship here at the company I am working for. Given that I’m already employed I can focus more on my job and at the same time have my internship without compromising my duties as a General Office Manager Administrator.
I started monitoring my hours the moment I was enrolled for the current semester, even though I have a specific job, I still have to learn other aspects or other operations of the company as I see fit of my training. I feel that I have this advantage to learn a few other processes in the company without restricting myself on what my job description is. Training is not supposed to be on just one specific area, for me I think I need to learn the processes of the company to be able to fully understand how it runs.
As I started my internship, I really didn’t feel like I was on training and being monitored most of the time, but it is quite a normal day on the office for me. I was still doing my job such as, receiving Purchase orders, receiving phone calls, monitoring employees and budgeting for the days’ expenses.
Here in the company, the moment we received a purchase order we’ll will automatically record it on our database, and after that we would go and find the what we call “plat” it is the negative film of a specific form, and will be release for production, then that “plat” will be developed on a metal plate to be put on an offset machine in which the inked image on the plate will be transferred on a rubber blanket, Then to the printing surface. This is a lithography process.
As per budgeting for the days’ expenses, it includes the papers needed, chemicals, negative films, employees’ daily allowance, and other expense that might come. I am also responsible for receiving the payments of our clients that comes over in our office. The company is operating 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday, and at the end of the week I am responsible for computing the weekly salaries of our employees.
Last January was a bit of a chaos for me, because there is a ton of legal documents that needed to be renewed, paid, and to be filed. And I was constantly communicating with our accountant to get this papers done, to meet with the given due date. There is the annual tax and also the 0605, vat registration, renewal of business permit and barangay clearance. There is also the statement of inventory and statement of outstanding receivables to be passed on the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue).
I ended my internship on January 27, 2018 having a total of 551 hours, it was a quite an experience for me to be able to learn how the whole company is working, every process that a piece of paper goes through I found kind of amusing, and made me realized that I am capable of coping up no matter what my
