Section A: State what the problem is that you're going to write about, and how you went about finding the information about it
Section B: Display and analyse the data you have used
Section C: Evaluate the data in terms of its accuracy and reliability
Section D: Relate conclusions to people and the environment
Section E: Write your conclusions
Section F: Spelling, punctuation and grammar are marked throughout your report
You must write your report in the sequence listed above
Each section should be separated, but not labelled. It's a good idea to leave 3-4 lines between each section so you can add extra material later
Make sure you have a detailed plan prepared before the day. A 'writing frame' can be used
Minimum of 2 references from books or the internet
If you don't you only get 2 marks!
Indicate what information you got from your references
Don't copy the information only summarise!
You must display the data used in the form of a table, graph or pie chart
Spot at least 1 trend in the data
For higher marks looks for anomalies and state them
For higher marks you must also process the data e.g. Work out averages, calculate percentages
Comment on the accuracy, precision & reliability of the data and give an overall comment on its validity
2 areas to consider: number and type of data
The Environment Agency (EA)
World Health Organisation (WHO)
Cancer Research
Think about how useful the information is, how reliable it is
What impact has the conclusions you arrived at, have in terms of its social (about people), economic (about financial costs) or environmental aspects
The more you mention the better your mark, especially if you link to sciene
