Proposal: NVIDIA Corporation
Proposal: NVIDIA Corporation
NVIDIA Corporation
The public company that I have selected is NVIDIA Corporation, and their NASDAQ National Market symbol is NVDA (MarketLine, 2014). NVIDIA Corporation is a “provider of visual computing technologies and the inventor of graphic processing units (GPUs)” (MarketLine, 2014). NVIDIA offers a variety of products, which are as follows: graphic and digital media processors for gaming; enterprise; high performance computing (HPC) and cloud; and automotive products (NVIDIA, 2015k). The purpose and goals are explicitly stated for previous years within their Citizenship Report. The breakdown of their goals are based on Company, Governance/Ethics, Environment, Supply Chain, Silicon (Chip) Operations, Board Operations and Workforce (NVIDIA, 2015c). Each of these goals have comments that show the purpose of each of the goals. For example the goal under Company in 2012 was to “Expand our ‘Green Team’ to address social and governance issues” (NVIDIA, 2015c), and then it shows the percentage of the process, and in this case was 100%. It then states the purpose of the committee that they created to meet this goal in the comments, “this team was expanded to include environmental, social and governance issues, and rebranded as the Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Committee” (NVIDIA, 2015c).
The reason for selecting NVIDIA is not only based on their products, but also on their culture and values. When I look for products to use knowing that the company is doing more than just creating products. The five core values at NVIDIA are: Be willing to innovate and take risks; Do what’s best for the company; Practice intellectual honesty; communicate directly; and make a contribution (NVIDIA, 2015k). The value that has me more drawn to NVIDIA is how they make contributions through Project Inspire. NVIDIA have been investing into community projects to help transform a local resource instead of having a holiday party since 2001 (NVIDIA, 2015k). This gives me a sense of what this company and their employees view is important and me as a customer shows that I indirectly help to contribute to their cause by purchasing their products.
My role as a customer is essential for the company since I assist by identifying the demand of goods and/or services. Based off this information the company can then project trends and base future demands on this information. Also NVIDIA states very clearly who the different stakeholders are and how they engage with NVIDIA. They include a survey on their website to get all of the stakeholders input, and they
