New Business Realties

From a business perspective, I would have to say that the New Business Realities that have affected my work would be the E-Business Systems and also the Net Communications. With the world changing everyday we have so many new things that arise and cause our lives to change at any given moment. Being able to adapt quickly is a very good skill to have to be proficient in your work.

I work at Super 8 Motel. We rely on all of our documents to be able to have proof of what is going on. Now with the Internet being the "go-to" thing nowadays, a lot of things get lost in that process. For example, we have a central reservation system which takes all of our reservations and put them into our main computer. It seems to be helpful right? When in all actuality, it actually hurts us. See we have a certain amount of each type of room and we know what our inventory is, unlike "travel agencies", see they just have a total number of rooms and once some rooms are already reserved then their system doesn't update to give them the correct number of rooms we have left that are available so sometimes we come across problems such as lack of inventory. Which all goes back to us relying on the Internet to compute correct data at all times. It never happens and more than likely you will have to move other reservations around and maybe even have to cancel a reservation due to no availability. This is why I do not like that we rely solely on the Internet to communicate data to and from our company. It is not as helpful as everyone thinks!Hopefully since times are changing and leading us to use the Internet more now, they should fix all those problems and errors that can occur.

Net communications is the next driving force that affects me in the workplace. The Internet allows us to communicate with other people in many different ways. There are messenger applications, emails, social networks, we can use the Internet to search different topics, etc. People are now able to work from home with the help of the Internet. Also most software designed for different companies to use also have a messenger application within the program. For example, my job uses a program called SoftHotel. Within that program we can receive and send email to guest for confirmation letters, folio reports, and cancellation letters. We can also send messages to other users through the program. Even in online schools, they provide you with a personal school email that allows you to send and receive emails and also inside the classroom you can interact with your fellow classmates through a message. This aspect has actually been helpful to me. See I do a lot of emailing to different corporate accounts, and instead of using my personal email to contact them I can do so within my SoftHotel program. One should remember who they are addressing when writing someone. Your tone of the letter means a lot and how you word things is a main problem a lot of people have because
