The problems that Wal-Mart has faced are mostly from employee stakeholders. To keep up the lower-price tendency, the company tried to cut down employees' benefits as well as their wages. However, so far, Wal-Mart spends more money on employee health insurance and focuses on ethical standards. Moreover, the company refused to create Unions to protect employees' rights and working conditions, but under the pressure of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Wal-Mart signed a memorandum with ACFTU to accept unions in stores.
Besides, one of the biggest problems of Wal-Mart is that the work force of the company largely is illegal immigrants and sweatshop workers in order to reduce the company's expense and labor cost; yet against the U.S. Immigration's laws. There is sufficient action for this problem since Wal-Mart spokesperson Mona Williams stated, "Accordingly, our company was very hesitant to ask for more assurances about the status of our contractors' employees." Even though hiring illegal immigrants seems to be a humanity action for those who are unemployed, it is still considered to be work-force plunder. The thing that Wal-Mart needs to do toward this problem is making clear workers' document from other countries.
Furthermore, Wal-Mart also has faced lawsuits that related to female-employee discrimination. Even though the company received recognition for its good treatment of female workers, the case has not been appealed.
