My First Day Essay
English class can bring many different emotions to a student. For example, English class is very intimidating to me while for another student it might be his/her favorite subject. I remember walking into my first high school English class scared to death because of my lack of writing skills. However, after having two great English teachers I have learned so much about my writing, as well as my reading abilities.
My high school English teachers, Mrs. Bower and Mrs. Hamm, were very helpful when it came to preparing me for big tests and college. While in high school, I took the four required English classes which included two college prep courses. Each class was very different in style. My Freshman class was, in my opinion, a refresher course; it was focused on grammar. The next year I was introduced to the famous Romeo and Juliet. I also had my first serious report which included a speech on the subject of the Roaring 20's. My next two years of English class were a bit more challenging but I thrived to succeed. For example, my Junior year, I had the chance to read the Scarlet Letter and as a class we read it and picked it apart to get the true meaning. Setting my high school readings aside however, I do enjoy classics such as The Moonstone and Pride and Prejudice. I also have a favorite author, in which I would recommend, Richard Paul Evans to anyone who enjoys reading. Ever since I read his first book The Christmas Box I have been obsessed with reading his novels. Books are more than just words on paper for me, having that ability to read and to imagine the story is an adventure. However, the real ability is to write the stories.
The writing process can be very difficult for an individual especially for one who is ill prepared. When it comes to sitting down and writing a well-written paper I have to have absolute silence. Having a lot of distractions makes it very difficult to focus for me. After I have silence, I write my thesis because that makes it easier to draw my outline to my paper. I also find it easier if I brainstorm some ideas and write those
