To me, God means Love, foregiveness, patience, peace, joy, stength, endurance, and perseverance. I'll break it down and elaborate on each item listed above. First off, Love; Until I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and prayed and read God's word. Before that instant I never truly understood what Love was. To know God sent His only son down here to earth. To show us the way. To be that way, that light in this dark world. To come as the ultimate sacrifice. The Lamb of God, that would by his blood cleanse me. Make me righteous and acceptable in God, our Fathers sight. To come here not for his glory but for the glory of our Father in Heaven. Not to do his will but our Fathers will. This is the greatest showing of Love and then of Jesus praying for our forgiveness to the Father.(Luke 23:24) Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing." As they crucified Jesus, he demonstrated what Love is. As he was being crucified, Jesus prayed to our Father for forgiveness for us. That is Love and the true definition of forgiveness. Patience is a synonom with God's time. Once you commit, dedicate or devote yourself to God your patience will be tested. It is a virtue that is more attitude than emotion. I have learnt that if I passively wait and don't exercise or use the gifts that God has blessed me with. It's as if I start to slowly go backwards. I lose sight of what patience is. I let the negative thoughts come in and instead of patiently waiting on God to show the next step I try to reason it out ahead of God. Which to no surprise ends up horrible. After learning to let go and let God show me not me show God. There is a sense of Peace and Joy that floods my soul. As I sit here and try to think of what I could compare it to, there is nothing. No fame, drug, alcohol, or money nothing compares. For when I read God's word its as if I am looking into God's mirror.
It's like the scripture 1 John 3:2 " Dear friends, we are God's children now, and what will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when he appears we will be like him, because we will see him as he is.
When I do Bible studies or just read His word. It's like a reflection. For in the Bible every scenario possible has been played out. From murder, to adultery. From a king to a peasant. Yet in all things God has shown us His love. How His love has endured and persevered the times of our disobedience and unfaithulness. How after everything God sent His son Jesus down to this Earth to provide away for me and you, to be inheritors in His eternal kingdom. By shedding his blood and He became our way to the Father. That is what God means to me. To learn to let go of the old and in Jesus' name put on the new. To trust in God's word and know it is true. Once we seek him truthfully, He will always come through.
