My Multiple Social Sites Identities
In recent times I have been experiencing a unique phase of social life characterized by the maintenance of several social site identities. The experience I find myself in is that of undergoing a particular degree of identity exploration in terms of social and professional belongingness. There are expectations within the society for people to identify with certain personalities because of professional and educational systems but I find myself defining different identities instead of exploring one (Lapadat, Judith 957). The difference in personality outlook is evident in my email accounts, Facebook, twitter and other social media profiles.
I maintain several email accounts in one and several email providers, using each email as a tool to carry out specific roles in the social and professional communication. Each email portrays a different personality and communicates unique content different from others. The same case is in the social media and social site where I maintain several accounts. Each account represents a different "me" in such a manner that they are not related despite representing one person. I am able to maintain the different identities at all time without confusion of each of them and apply them practically simultaneously.
Three Identities
The first main identity I maintain is the professional personality of an accountant despite being on a different profession. I work on part time basis as an accounts assistant at a corporate body owned by a close relative. I have a full corporate email account which I use for communications at work and with clients. I have opened a Facebook and twitter account in my official names and the professional data is reflected in these accounts. This is what inspired me to belong to the group of employees and professional accountants. This group is very important to me since it forms part of my daily time and helps me to share with other accountants.
This group forms a big part of my social media identity not only because it is it part of my job but because it requires me to share work relations closely with my relatives. This makes my membership to the group even more important than just any other professional group because my family is a central part of my social life as well as a primary social identity. The family relations mould me to who I am, while the professional touch of accounting helps me understand a different profession from the one I am pursuing.
I have passion for online social marketing and networking which led me to fully pursue with my second online identity. I was signed by a friend to and email marketing site which adopts network marketing model to recruit and pay its subscribers. I have a customized network marketing email for marketing the site as well as recruit new social marketers. By virtue of the job done, we use the social sites and media to market and recruit. Therefore, I had to open full marketing identities on Facebook and twitter sites which reflect my personality as a social entrepreneur and a motivated marketer.
Network marketing cannot be separated from inspiration and motivation. This is what made me establish a full motivational blog that I direct my online traffic to sort who to recruit in my marketing networks. I do this with a unique email customized for that blog to reveal an identity of an inspirational network marketer. This identity made me to belong to motivational and marketing groups in the social sites like Facebook and also follow marketers and motivational in addition
