The Motorola Company did not have any problems regarding multicultural workforce at one time, as it was only restricted to employees who have the similar customs; but by the time the company challenged for global expansion, it faced quite a few difficulties.
It all started during the 1990's when Motorola added 50 new employees from diverse cultures around the world, in addition to some old employees who live outside of the United States; creating numerous subcultures with different ethnicity, language, race, religion, age, gender and so on. Even their suppliers and customers were already multicultural.
Aside from these, Motorola also recruited many of its new employees from other corporations; hence, they have already formed particular beliefs and principles which are not applicable to Motorola's.
By 1980-1990s, some senior Motorola employees with different nationalities retired therefore, reducing the experienced employees who knew Motorola's ethics better than anybody else in the workforce and with that taking their positive influence towards the company; which meant that the rest of the employees and the addition of the new ones were inexperienced towards the Motorola beliefs and code of ethics. In these situations, the company needed immediate resolution in order to enhance the employee's undeveloped understanding of corporate culture.
