More to Life
Introduction:
While I was thinking of a certain topic that I could talk about in my speech this four-letter word just came right in to my mind -love. But as I continued to ponder upon this love topic, I realized that there is something more general in this world that we barely even talk about. Maybe we don't actually discuss it because it encompasses lots of things -and most of them, we hardly understand. We always talk of love but we fail to understand something that we first had before we can ever experience love. Yes, it is still a four-letter word only it's L-I-F-E.
Please allow me to sing a few lines from a song entitled "More to Life" by Stacie Orrico because this song has been quite an influence to my speech. Here it goes.
Now I'll be asking you guys this question, have you ever really wondered why you are brought into this world? Why were we born? Why are we living up to this present time? Have you ever asked yourself something that goes like that? There must be an underlying purpose of our existence that we haven't found or realized yet.
For the hopeless romantics, life is all about finding that "perfect one" and living happily ever after. For the scientists and inventors life could be all about never ending discoveries. For the businessmen, living a good life means to earn a lot of money. For the fishermen, life can be all about having a good catch. For some vain high school girls, life is great when you become prom queen. For Miley Cyrus, life is a big party in the U.S.A. For Manny Pacquiao, life is a boxing match. For Patrick Star life only has meaning whenever he eats ice cream. What is life for you? I guess we all have our ideas of what life is all about.
There is this quotation that says, "Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once." The meaning of that is very compelling since it talks about the truth. We only have one life so we better make the best of it. If that's how important life is, why do most people do not spend it wisely? We must agree that most people tend to sort of "waste" their lives in things that don't really matter. I mean, look at this. I don't know if you would agree with me or not but most of the youngsters nowadays seem to think that their lives are all about partying, relationships, and becoming wealthy in the future, I guess. I know. I know. Those that I've mentioned are all "good stuffs" I mean, who doesn't want to attend parties, meet new friends, and get into relationships right? But hey, those are just bits and pieces scattered in our lives. Life cannot and will not revolve around those kinds of things and I know we all can agree to that.
Now to really live life without regrets, a life that is not put to waste, we got to find that one significant purpose of our existence, something that would make us better persons. We are all approaching young adulthood and it's about time for us to take life seriously. There is more to life than the happy moments we spend with our closest friends. There is more to life than striving to be always on the top of the class. There is more to life than reading your favorite book all day or playing your most fancied online game. There is more to life than finding your so called 'soul mate'. There is
