Ghandi-
Mohandas Karamchand Ghandi was considered to be a very influential man. He was an activist to help the Indians gain full citizenship. Ghandi felt that Indians were being judge because of the color of their skin was not white. Ghandi was not going to take the racism, he was going to stand up for himself and the Indians.
Ghandi's first plan was to help with the bil that denied Indians the right to vote. He believed that no matter the skin color, everyone is equal. Many Indians followed Ghandi's law of Satagraha meaning devotion to the truth and that they should suffer the punishment. Thousands of Indians were jailed and shot for striking. The Satagraha matured during the struggle.
Ghandi helped with World War 1, He recruited Indians for the war effort. Doing this would help the Indians gain independence. In World War 2, Ghandi offered non-violent support. During this Ghandi declared that India could not be a party to a war that fought for democratic freedom when India itself was not free. Ghandi intensified his demand for freedom, by drafting a resolution called "Quit India" this was the most forceful movement in history.
In 1943, the Muslim League passed a resolution for India and the british to divide and quit. Ghandi opposed to this, and he wanted the Congress and the Muslim League to cooperate and attain independence under a provisional government. When Direct Action was called, the Congress denied the proposal. Riots and killings started to spread. Ghandi visited the most prone riots areas to unite the indian hindus, muslims and Christians.
Ghandi was known worldwide for his practice of total non-violent actions. He fought for what he believed was right, equality for the Indian heritage. Ghandi wanted the Indians to live a life with full citizenship. He once said "When I despair, I remember all throughout history they ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think about it- always."
Biography
Ghandi was born on October 2, 1869. He was the pre eminent political and ideological leader of India during the indian independence movement. Ghandi lived by Ahisma, total nonviolence. Many of his followers referred to him as Mahatma or Great Soul and also Bapu meaning father. He was a non-violent expatriate lawyer. Ghandi was assassinated while standing on a podium giving out a prayer by a hindu muslim. Ghandi's teachings and beliefs are still in practice today.
