Model for entreprenural leadership

This paper focuses on the theoretical and conceptual framework of entrepreneurial leadership competencies especially in university students. It proposes a model for entrepreneurial leadership development. This model presents entrepreneurial leadership development as a process of experimental, social interactive, observational and reflective learning providing foundation for entrepreneurial leadership.

Entrepreneurship and leadership are the terms that have a very thin line of differentiation. In the view of literature entrepreneurship is a form of leadership and they state entrepreneurial behaviors as leadership behaviors. As entrepreneur is termed as a person who starts the business from zero and takes all the risks so his task is termed more difficult as compared to a simple leader. Entrepreneur has to act differently in various situations and entrepreneurial leaders are supposed to have more competencies in order to establish a new business.

Entrepreneurial leadership definition and development

Entrepreneurial leadership has been defined as a form of leadership behaviors that is different from other leadership behaviors that is required to deal with highly turbulent, challenging and competitive environments. There are two approaches named as the specific abilities to perform leadership roles and tasks in entrepreneurial endeavors.

* Work oriented approach

* Socio cultural and situated approach

Three attributes of personal competencies are also discussed

* Proactiveness (being active to take action instead of waiting to be influenced) entrepreneurial leadership is termed as a proactive response to environmental challenges.

* Innovative (the tendency of entrepreneurial leaders to think creatively to cope with opportunity recognition, resource utilization and problem solving).

* Risk taking is termed as the willingness of the entrepreneurial leaders to absorb the uncertainty and take the Burdon of responsibility for future. The two competencies of EL (entrepreneurial leaders) are mentioned here self competencies (endowed abilities within individuals) and functional competencies (capabilities needed for performing various leadership tasks). Theoretically EL face two challenges the first one scenario enactment envisioning future and creating scenario of innovative possibilities and cast enactment which is influencing a group of competent supporters that are capable of accomplishing the objectives of the scenario. These two challenges result is two roles that are building commitment in followers and specifying limitations

Entrepreneurial learning: importance, definition and process

Entrepreneurial learning is said to be learned as an experience and through training programs. It is termed as a process of learning where EL learns through his experience and keeps on applying that knowledge to modify his strategies accordingly. This process has three main components

* Experience

* Transformation process

* Knowledge

Entrepreneurial learning and experience

This basically defines that entrepreneurial learning is not something that can be learned it is something relating to experience and to gain that experience especially at student
