I am reading Animal Farm. I really enjoy reading this book because absolutely interesting and entertaining to read. I felt good reading the book because it represents the Russian Revolution that happened before WW1. I studied the Russian Revolution in history class last year, so it feels interesting making connections between what I studied and what I read.
The story starts off with Old Major, he told the animals to start the rebellion against the humans. Old major is an old pig who represents Karl Marx, who actually started the Russian Revolution. Snowball is a pig who thinks just like Old Major and follows his footsteps. Snowball represents Leon Trotsky. I learned Trotsky was a Russian Marxist Revolutionary who was the first leader of the Russian Red Army just like Snowball who led the animals to the battle of the cowshed in which the humans were overthrown by the animals. I admired Snowball's actions to lead the revolution and bring justice to the mistreated animals. On the other hand, Napoleon was a mean, selfish and a jealous pig who always opposed Snowballs ideas. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin. Napoleon got rid of Snowball so he could be the leader of the farm. Just like how Stalin got Trotsky exiled from the Soviet government to become the dictator of the country. I couldn't stand Napoleon's manipulative ways of taking advantage of the animals once Snowball was gone.
All in all so far Animal Farm is an excellent book to read for me personally because I like how I'm making connections to the book from what I have learned in history class. I would definitely recommend this book anyone who is looking something interesting to read or someone who is into history. I think now that Snowball is gone and Napoleon is being a bad leader, he will be overthrown by the animals of the farm. Just like how recently the dictator of Libya, Kaddafi was over thrown by the people because he was a bad leader.
