Microsoft Marketing
The Microsoft Company started by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, who just started out by writing a computer program for many businesses. In 1975, they had an inspiration from popular electronics magazine, that featured an Altair microcomputer and they developed a BASIC, computer programming language for it (Microsoft Company History, 2008). So began the company of Micro-soft (Microsoft Company History, 2008).
Strategy
Microsoft licenses, produces and develops software products for all global countries. We use Microsoft products every day we turn on our computers.
Microsoft's Mission Statement, according to Microsoft Company History, 2008, thirty years ago was "a computer on every desk" now the mission statement has been revised to "Create experiences that combine the magic of software with the power of Internet services across a world of devices" (Microsoft Company History, 2008).
Microsoft's target market is anyone who wants to buy their products. They produce and develop software not only for businesses, but for schools, and also reach the global market. Microsoft provides their products to anyone who has a computer, or who wishes to purchase one.
Microsoft's pricing strategy is to lower its prices on software so it can raise its sales. They have also cut the prices of Microsoft Office and also offer free versions of Word, Excel and other programs so they can stay ahead of Google and other competitors (BusinessWeek, 2009).
Microsoft has many distributors for their products, thanks to Microsoft, with the capabilities of the internet; it is easier now more than ever to distribute their products here in the US and globally. We can find their products mostly in any retail stores these days, the internet and in office stores.
Microsoft promotes their products by advertising on the internet, television, in stores almost anywhere they can.
Microsoft is a huge corporation and they know what they are doing. They started out with just two people and now they are a big corporation making millions with their knowledge and research how to come up with software for us to use, and developed technology for consumers and businesses to communicate with others all over the world.
Microsoft has a marketing plan that works for them and has worked for years. I do not see any flaws but I sure over the years there were some. They are a billion dollar company and they keep coming up with things for us to
