A micro expression analyst is one who can read your thoughts through your body language. Not literally, but the micro expression analysts analyze the little actions a human makes and understands them. They read "micro momentary" expressions a person makes unconsciously and can even tell if a person is lying, telling the truth or speaking a 'half-truth', a lie which is covered with a truth to make it seem believable and convincing to the person whom one is telling it to.[6] They can identify the basic emotions correctly and if a person is trying to mask, simulate, or neutralize them. They can easily find out what a person is trying to hide, when a person is trying to reassure oneself or pretending.
However, there aren't many micro expression analysts in today's time nor were they in the past. The most popular and well known micro expression analyst is Paul Elkman, who heads the Paul Elkman Group, and usually assists the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation, USA) in criminal cases.
By studying facial expressions, micro expression analysts can even correlate expressions with which relationships would last and which would not.
A popular television show centers on a group of 'micro expression analysts' and the cases they solve using their skills. It is called 'Lie To Me', in which the main character's is based upon Paul Elkman himself. The show has run for three seasons, and usually has one case per episode.
Sounds like no one's thought is as safe as we thought.
