Dear diary,

In Poland, i lived so peaceful, great and fine

until the year came to 1939

the Nazis took more control than any other

this feared me, my father and mother

but before this horrific event

Vladek was the man i met

we fell in love and soon had a boy

only THIS brought us so much joy

The polish army was where Vladek was drafted

filled with anxiety and worried was how i acted

i was so surprised when Vladek came home

he didn’t write a letter or called me from the phone!

i was so relieved and glad

my grandparents were taken by the nazis to the camp Auschwitz

where prisoners were killed, tortured or received many hits

my whole family went to get our passport a stamp

we made it through, but Fela (Vladek’s sister) ended up going to the camp

So we sent Tosha with him and the other two

Later, we received the news that our son passed away

i was so speechless i didn’t know what to say

This hurt me so much, it killed me inside

i couldn’t believe that Tosha and the kids died!

now that Jews were in danger, our whole families hid

through the years thats all we ever did

we’d mind our own business but then suddenly go in shock

whenever we heard a simple door-knock

Vladek and i tried to flee from Poland to Hungary

being sneaky and not getting caught was real scary

this happened in 1944

we were caught, sent to Auschwitz, and i didn’t see Vladek anymore

they split us up, i was on the other side

i felt alone, scared, and suddenly terrified
