Mantsios (class where you are in is determined by social classes, races, genders)
Myth:
* Rich an poor are equal in the eyes of the law (education and health care are provided for them)
* All Americans are assumed as middle class since all of them are consumptive
* America's economic is seen to be increase and never go down.
* In America, everyone have the same opportunity to be a millionaire for the right time and place.
Facts:
* The most population only occupied by the rich and poor people.
* Middle class holds a small amount of the nation's wealth; the gap between rich, middle, and poor become larger and larger.
* The live style between rich, middle, and poor are different. (lower class have more health problem than upper class)
* The lower class has less chances to survive and success (lower spent more time to do their task on their daily life)
* Kind of classes affect chances for education achievement (Student who is upper class got a better score than the lower class got)
* All American don't have the same chances to be success.
* Racism and sexism give impact of the class in society. ( female and non-white skin have bigger chance to be poor)
Dalton(judge people by their race ; black play basketball white should not be a player) all of these because they are judge by their own personal merits
Myth:
* People are judge by her or his own merits
* All people the same opportunity to develop their merits
* Their hard work finally will pay off
* To be successful, the opportunity is not affected by races, class background, gender, national origin, family line, and sexual orientation.
Facts:
* The best black man does not mean the best person among the whites.(skin color / race)
* Talk about the underclass that is impossible to change their structure economy.
