MANIFESTO: MOVIE REVIEW
According to some people, “Silence is the best answer for all questions.” However, when you watch the short film entitled Manifesto by the Mass Communication students of University of Northern Philippines starring Kerwin Cabaya as Jose Rizal, you will know the importance of being communicative not only for words, but also, in action. The said screenplay was written and directed by Nojie Bajet based on the life and works of Jose Rizal. The story is all about the experiences of Rizal in putting solutions to the problems of the Filipinos and not being merely silent. This film should be released so that the Filipinos can watch it and remember what Rizal contributes to the freedom we are attaining at this moment. And also, for the Filipinos to understand the importance of communication.
The movie pertains to Jose Rizal’s time as it describes his youthful life, his family, his studies, his inspirations, his starting point in realizing that he needs to fought for his countrymen, the love of his life and on how he fought for the country until death approach him. Also, this movie pertains to what youth can contribute to become Rizal in their own special ways.
This movie focuses on the things Rizal did and thought for the country. Because of everything that’s been happening back then, he realized that writing was the best way on how to revive the hearts of his fellow countrymen. Rizal didn’t stay being blind, being mute and being deaf in fighting for the Filipinos. Above all, the most important he did was to give the freedom and justice for his countrymen until the end of his life.
In addition, this movie is a very good eye-opener for each individual especially the youth as the next generation because this movie is also a motivational campaign for the youth as some students gave their own little ways on how to become like our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
Just as good as the actors were the scenes they’ve shoot. Bringing back the viewers to the times of the Spaniards were clear and appreciative. Watching the sceneries, the places, the clothes and everything make me feel like wanting to create a time machine and go back to their time; except the rivalry of course between the Spaniards and the Filipinos.
Also, the focus of the camera is perfect and it helps the scene to be truly seen. The pictures on the movie are also good. Apparently, the narrations, the actions and the actors move is I think very okay for the viewers. Especially that they used Tagalog as their medium of narrating. The setting is also cool and beautiful. Furthermore, I just want to commend the narrator (in behalf of the writer) in re-counting the story and the life of Rizal very understandable and uplifting.
The story was perfect for everyone. It must be watched for each individual to be awaken with our patriotism. Rizal, being patriotic and intelligent, he never gives up in everything. He perseveres to finish what he had started.
