Pre-subject reflection

before i start to learn this subject, i cannot describe what  is managing, leading and stewardship in exactly what it is. because i am lack of experience of working. due to the situation of currently, I am a student in university and do not know whats the management and how to manage people or group. The assumption of mine in this subject is that students are able to learn how to managing people and to become a good leader have ability  that competencies of managing, leading and stewardship. even though I read several books about management. Such as HaidiLao, this is a book talking about a man who found a Chinese restaurant in Sichuan . At the beginning, there have only three people running this business. However, 10 years after, there have over 50 branches and 15,000 employees in China. And it becomes the biggest and popular chain hotpot restaurant in China. And the primary reason leads it success is good management and good leader in their company. The leader of Haidilao put his employees’ benefits in first important thing. The CEO of Haidilao Zhang Yong says that ‘we bring happiness  to employees will leads employees bring happiness to our clients.’ I think this is good principle for management.

Mackey (2005, cited Nick 2005) states that lots of successful business put the client in first position, instead of the investor and managers. In my opinion, both Mackey and Zhang Yong point out that the main idea in there business is put the customer’s benefit and experience in first. Certainly, customers can bring profit to company. However, management have lots of concepts and purposes. Not just only make good relationship between leader and employees. For example, make the right decision, create rational purposes and targets, motivation, planning and direction. Management is worldwide requirement for leaders able to manage and lead employees, and get best and ensure a sustainable competitive advantage for owners business (Williams, 2006).

The primary key concepts of this subject are teach people to face the unpredictable situations, and organize the purpose of personal responsibility. Furthermore, the subject is named managing leading and stewardship. The concept of stewardship can support leaders to bring advantage cooperative in their business.

In my expectation, this subject can encourage people to understand the business theories. through the real business example and management theories to develop an individual leader skills. And when I learned after this subject, I can able to how to face the real business problem.

Mid-subject reflection

In the first lecture and tutorial, lecturer  presents some knowledges of this subject that leadership can be seems as one significant key competencies in all kinds of organization. Thus the leadership is exactly exists around our environment. through the management leading and stewardship can be make people seeking leadership skills are very useful and necessary for yourself and your company. Because the leadership skills can make you mange your organization and lead your group achieve the organization goals or strategy. Furthermore, in my mind, leadership is not just skill or capability of people. The leadership can be seem sense and charisma. French and Raven (1959, cited in Lehman & Cunliffe 2013) presents that referent power is based on charism, and we look past charisma and rhetoric and delve into the motives of a leader.  From the book i red before,  the leadership can be seems as amplification of values for the goals         of fostering self consciousness, and improve the ability for motivation and listening for making good relationship with other employees. And at same time, charismatic, IQ and EQ was related. i thought these abilities  were exist at the same time for a good leader. This is the reason why leaders can empower and  lead employees to achieve the targets.

In addition, due to the lack of experience of working and management, I was playing the role of our group is listener in most time. However, I was keep thinking about the case study when our group meeting. And i can learned some ideas from others group member’s thinking.

When I Finnish the tutorial two, i learned the good leader should have several abilities and skills. However, there are distribute  two main parts, which are emotions and skills. After discussion and conclusion in tutorial, leader’s emotion is important than skill. Teacher presents lots of ability words on the blackboard. Such as motivate, decision making, listening etc. But classmates pick most emotion’s word on the leader’s ability list. which means, emotion is the significant point that good leader have to owns. Emotions are not consciously controlled.  Normal people is hard to control their emotions, in addition you cannot control other people, but we can control ourself’s and choose the right way react to them. The leader should listening what is employees need and use this kind of information to think how to motivate employees. It is like I presents in pre-subject reflection. Haidilao’s CEO Zhang Yong always put his employee on the first in his business. As a leader, you satisfy your employees first, the employee will satisfy your organization’s clients. In other hand, skills can help leader to achieve the organization targets. Thus, both emotions and skills are essential ability for leadership.
