a. A description of the tool?
Answer:
SAP Business Objects Explorer is a tool that improves business decisions through redefining notion of self-service and providing beautiful analytics to ensure knowledge and connecting with updated information. The tools help to draw and visualize data and is easy to use. The tool provides data instantly by providing flexibility to make decisions instantly with data provided.
b. What does the tool do?
Answer:
- It finds information that user needs instantly only by searching simple keywords.
- The tool explores data in an analytic way without formatting reports.
- The tool combines and analysis different data under single window for better perspective.
- The tool gives a pictorial view after detailed research so that our data makes sense.
c. How is it utilized for business and decision making?
Answer:
- It presents data in a pictorial form which is more apt to make comparisons.
- It provides a clear view of analysis.
- Data can be instantly assessed from entire database by searching keywords.
2. Analyze the data in detail: provide 4 key points of data with an analysis of data and observations
Answer:
a. Sales: Most sold product was Air pump while the least sold product was knee pads.

b. Products: Most revenue was collected through men’s off road bike whereas least revenue was collected through water bottles.

c. Trends: Trend was quite similar with in the tenure of 4 years with a slight increase in revenue can be noticed progressively.

d. Demographics: Most revenue was collected through northern parts of Germany whereas least revenue was collected through west of US which clearly states that the sale of products was down in US and has to be worked upon.

3. Describe two (2) skills gained from this in the activity?
Answer: The skills gained from this activity are:
- Analyzing and managing data.
- Organizing sales according to the profits in different regions and years.
4. If you were presenting to the CEO of a company, based on the data what is are your top 3 recommendations and why?
Answer:
a) In order to improve the revenue in Germany, company should emphasis on promoting their products by advertising their products.
b) Trend was quite similar in all 4 years, although a slight increase was noticed in the growth but to improve the profits the company should invest more on advertising and promotions.
c) More emphasis should be laid on promoting knee pads as they are safety equipment and hold low sale whereas good sale products should be improved continuously so that they have a good hold on market.
5. Describe a new understanding you have of creating insights/understandings from interpreting the information created in this case?
Answer: This case gave us a view about how new strategies can be made and adjusted according to the changing marketing demand of product. This case showed how charts play an important role in visualizing and interpreting the data. Managing figures and adjusting strategies according to live market demand can also be conquered through this case. Combining a huge set of data, sorting and then providing a brief analysis was also understood through this case.
