* A conflict is a situation where two or more members of a group hold differing opinions, hence leading to elevated tensions and arguments.
* Seeing that conflicts occur due to opposing ideas or opinions, it might be useful to increase the level of conflict to observe people and gauge their inherent personalities, such as who stays calm at times of conflict, who rides the wave smoothly, what tactics does one take to end the conflict, who emerges the leader by holding his ground and/or successfully wins the argument etc.
* Typically, people with MBTI type ESFJ are warm-hearted and strive for harmony in their environments. They want to be appreciated for their roles and contributions. In a conflicted situation involving such people, the ideal solution will be to bring all the team members together, impress upon them the importance of their roles and responsibilities and explain why their harmonious work is important for their organization, and then try to iron out all problems by being completely open and transparent to them about the situation and the problems faced by the firm due to their conflicts.
* For a task oriented leadership style, the preferences that would be most valuable would be Introversion, Sensing, Thinking and Judging.
o Introversion: The leader would need to communicate the task clearly in writing, since there is no need for in-depth people skills. Reflecting on the task allows the leader to understand the scope of the entire project before starting.
o Sensing: The leader would need to use factual and concrete information to perform the task, and use his own knowledge to provide a clear perspective to his subordinates.
o Thinking: The leader would need to be task oriented, using logic and objective analysis to find the best solution.
o Judging: Being scheduled and organized lets the leader perform his tasks with minimum stress within the stipulated deadlines.
* For a people oriented leadership style, the preferences that would be most valuable would be Extraversion, Intuition, Feeling and Perceiving.
o Extraversion: An extroverted leader wins the trust of his subordinates and enjoys interacting with people.
o Intuition: A leader with intuitive skills understands people and helps them follow their inspirations.
o Feeling: Being tender-hearted, the leader strives for a harmonious work environment.
o Perceiving: A perceiving leader is flexible and gives a chance for the employee to work on his terms.
* Group think: It is a situation where members of a group make incorrect or faulty decisions, purely with the aim to prevent conflicts within the group, despite being aware
