What do you want to be when you grow up?
Apparently, it is a hard question, as well a great question. Sometimes I am afraid to face this question, because I will feel shamed if I don’t know how to answer it. But actually, I think about this question not just one time, thousands of time I am thinking about it. However, it’s so hard to settle down a certain answer, always changes.
As I grew older, the answer became more and more reality, kind of sad. When I was a child, I still remember my goal is becoming the richest person in the world. So I want to be a business person, creating my own brand, running my own company. Now, I think it’s still my goal. I want to create something for myself, and watching it grow up. Hence, let me take the time to think about how to develop my personal career plan.
My Strength and Weakness
At first, based on my own opinion. My strength is my personality, I have enough patience and warm-heart. I am really care about people, and want to give them help if I can. So if I am a leader, I will take care of my co-workers for sure, let them feel happy to work with me. And another strength is I can discover able people and put them at suitable posts. So If I become a leader, I will try my best to give each one a suitable position. In addition, I got some feedbacks from my roomie. My roomie said I have courage to take responsibility.
On the other side, about my weakness. My mother said I am too lazy and I agree with her. This is a fatal flaw. I have a lot of thoughts in my mind, sometimes I feel like I am making a movie in my head, but just a few of them I make them come true. Another one is I am an indecisive person, always think too many results will happen, so not make a decision immediately. That’s kind of my weakness and strength.
My ideal job
In five years, I’d like to work with Apple Inc. I feel it’s an amazing company, always lead the trend. And I want to be a sale manager located in China. Now, I have two bachelor degrees, one is English major, the other one is Finance major. I want to accumulate working experience in these five years, don’t want to increase my degree level in these five years. My ideal salary is $60,000/year in that time and include some benefits, like health insurance and vacation with pay.
Detailed plan to obtain my ideal job
In the first year after I graduate, I will try to find a job in America. This is my last term and I already apply for OPT, trying to get one-year opportunity to work in America. In my last term, I modified my resume with my academic advisor, and sent to American Savings Bank in last two weeks. If that succeed, I will move to Hawaii in January.
I am an international student, so I need to change my visa status in my first year, to extend my time living in America. I will start from American Savings Bank, then get my working visa, after my contract expire, I will try to find a work in Apple Inc. That’s kind of my plan in these five years.
