Management Challenges and Concerns
The committee is meeting to present a report on management challenges. In this report the committee will discuss the challenges, possible causes, and a plan to address the challenges. HRM's are a crucial part of the strategic plan within an organization and the human resources department is included in decisions (Tissen, Deprez, Burgers, and Van Montfort, 2010).
At Wild Adventures Theme Park, (parent owner Herschend Family Entertainment), the committee has found challenges, such as retaining employees, employee happiness, and hiring the right people for the right job. At Wild Adventures, the vision statement is "Making Memories Worth Repeating" (Wild Adventures, 2012 p.1).
The committee is biggest concern with retaining employees and having him or her put in the right positions. The suggestions to fix this concern are to have the employees' cross-train in the different departments. This will allow management to see where the employee excels and if needed elsewhere in the park, he or she can fill in. An unhappy employee does not do his or her job to the full potential.
Another plan the committee is discussing is work hours. There are some days that some employees have to work 12 -13 hours a day and arrive back the next morning to do the same thing. One solution is to have the employees who had to stay the night before come in later the next day so he or she are not tired. This could become a safety issue, particularly with the ride operators.
In conclusion, the committee has offered solutions to management to filling the job positions with the right employee. The committee has offered a solution to make the employee a happy employee by allowing him or her alternative hours on long days and a solution to retaining employees. These solutions are here to help employees to have excellent customer service so that the guests will come back.
