Making college free: Sin or Boon?

The college starts after one completes their high school education but it is totally different for the parents as the costs are significantly high. College has been a commodity in the country that not many people can actually afford. College might be a place where good quality education is provided but it not being free has repelled a lot of bright minds from getting good quality education which could have made their life better and they could have eventually contributed to the nation in one way or the other. The expensiveness of the college has prompted somewhat of a hippie culture where they just roam around the country looking for petty jobs and live a meaningless life. The cost of operating colleges would be on the government if they’re free. There are plenty of debates about this and many arguments have been made. Since the measures of a person’s life are solely made on the level of education one has made, colleges being free would eventually turn out to be a boon to the country and hence, college level education should be free.

Every kid carries an ambition that they later on wish to fulfill. Some get what they want and some are left hanging. Due to inability of some parent to provide their child with the optimum education, the hardworking minds dwell in other places. This problem is not only about the current state of a particular kid, but is actually a life turning event. College education should be freely provided by the government with the concept that not every family has a prosperous lifestyle. With the service that the government might consider providing, it would be a boon to those who actually believe and try to stand up for something. And because of this, even parent are free of a burden or debt which is a major financial factor when it comes to college education. Students can save up their cash or part-time income and use it for their educational use like research and what not.

The tax revenue from different personnel or large profiting companies can be invested in the welfare of college education. The college itself might have to conduct different programs or donation from the public or the government in order to standardize their level of expertise in the education field even further. This would eventually result to the college not having to take anything from the students. With the provision of free college education, it develops a more healthy, more educated societies across the country. As each and every one gets an opportunity, the students themselves would be more than glad to do something for the government in return. With the intellectual mind working as a combined unit, it would actually help the government itself in forming a better nation. Martha Kanter, a professor at New York University wrote,” The predominant focus is that in the 21st century, a high school diploma is not enough for success in the economy and society. People need an education beyond high school.” So with that in mind, free college education is a must for everyone now and would be highly appreciated by everyone.
