Live and Live

The dictum, live and let live contains very sound advice. It is, indeed, a practical philosophy o life to tolerate others, to refrain from interfering in the affairs of others, and to reconcile ourselves to the way of living of others. One should not try to impose one's own idea and beliefs upon others. Very one has the right to decide how he is to live. We cannot expect uniformity in the ways of life. We should respect the way of life of our neighbors just as we expect them to respect our own way of life. Modes of life are various, and each has its own justification. People belonging to different communities, casts and races have different modes of eating, dressing and living. One must learn to respect the culture the culture of a group of people different from one's own. Some people are vegetarians while others are non-vegetarians. Some belongs to one set of religious views while others to some different views. We have no right to quarrel with people who are different from us. Some is true of much talked of generation gap. Older generation does not approve the ways of the younger generation. In the same way the youth of today scoff at habits of the old. If the old are termed as obscurants by the young, the young are called indiscipline and rebels by the old. The right attitude should be to live and let live. Man is social animal and thus leads an interdependent life. In such a situation unless we have respect for people who are different from us, society can't make progress or even exist. It is very essential for all.
