Life Without the Internet
What would happen if the Internet that we all love and admire so much disappears completely of the face of the earth? It would be like an international disaster and a real nightmare for many of us. I love the Internet. I can't speak for anybody, but the idea of living without the Internet is way-too hard for me to imagine. In today's society, the Internet is my best friend, I must admit. Not because I am constantly chatting with people or socializing but because as a student, I have found a great deal of information on the Internet that I would otherwise not have access to. I have used websites like Google, yahoo and youtube to study for final exams, found information about graduate schools or as a dictionary or thesaurus. I also use the Internet to look up histories, listen to music, play games and listen to free online lectures from schools like Yale and Brown. Through an application called IWEB, I have found websites like Popular Mechanics and Machines, These sits allow me to contact numerous people in the field I'm majoring in and to get information about what I need to do as a student to be competitive in that field. On the WEB, I can find financial articles, read the news, stay in contact with my family and friends, find out about opportunities and activities at my school, check my bank account, get things in order for the new school year, and apply for scholarships without leaving the comfort of my living room. There are so many useful applications for the Internet that I really don't see why anyone would want to try to go without.
