There I was studying the influences of marijuana and the effects it has on one's body, and I realized that I am a strong believer that it should become a legalized substance. In the assignment were we discussed are feelings about choices I feel like people should be able to choose what they want to do in their life and for it. If someone wants to lift their spirits and smoke marijuana, they should be able to do it legally and in as much quantity as desired without having to jump through hoops to do it. Even the fact that smoking tobacco is legal when it's a million times worse for you then marijuana is mind boggling, especially if you actually look into what all goes into a cigarette opposed to a joint or blunt, you would be surprised. I have researched and am going to provide some facts from a recent website I came across to help my opposing argument on the legalization of marijuana. My basic goal for this paper is to show you where I stand on this debate and apparently I'm all for the legalization, so I'm going to try to convince you to see and agree with my views on this matter.
Some interesting facts I learned from an online website stated that "Marijuana is literally one of the least toxic substances known."(www.legalizationofmarijuana.com) Also since marijuana is surprisingly non addictive in any way, I don't see why they legalize a substance like alcohol and tobacco but not marijuana. According the same site they show that even caffeine is more addicting making marijuana "one of the least habit forming substances known." Marijuana has been around for longer then we know it has been recorded dating over five thousand years ago but in the last century it has gained the most popularity. Earlier times date uses of marijuana back to B.C times, and consist of uses for medical reasoning, woven into cloth or even placed in food. Not only is marijuana an all natural substance but it also used medically to help chronic illness patients cope with the pain and prolong their health. I don't know about you but I'm pretty positive a doctor would never prescribe a cigarette to a patient to help with cancer or any other disease. Also as far as fatalities go, most cases that seem to be promoted by marijuana are only specially crafted by the government to make it seem dangerous to the society. An example would be a car accident or some other type of impaired injury; if that person had marijuana in their system for any test they mark it as a marijuana-related episode even if the person was intoxicated with alcohol also. The system is pathetic but I assume that's the only way to try to push the issues of marijuana smoking and legalization out the window.
On some other ways to show how are forth amendment laws stating "secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures"(Fourth
