The instruction was made to let everyone know, no matter whom they were, they were going to follow the laws put in place. It is especially important when doing such services as community services because you are a representative of the state or county in which you work in and of course, you have to set a standard to show people how things should be done. If you as a community service worker, are bound by certain standards as a person, if you are not following them how can you sit down and help someone and talk about what is right if you are not doing what is right. That would be hypocritical and you cannot have such individuals working in any type of community service area that offers services doing immoral things or breaking the law in any type of way. This is very crucial to keeping the standards high in the type of service.
What is tells you are the laws and ethics go hand and hand. If you are following the laws and rules of any agency or job then you are practicing ethical standards. You cannot be ethical if you are not following laws and regulations. You cannot be off doing your own thing and still be practicing ethics. Laws and regulations are set in place for a reason, every place has rules whether you are working for a community service industry or working as a server in Waffle House. We cannot have people running ramp it and have chaos if we want to get the help needed out there to individuals who need our help in some type of way.
