1. Strength, weakness and core competencies of the company
Strength: The Company became popular very soon and earned huge profit since its period of commencement. The strength of the company must have been the marketing and better technology.
Weakness: It hardly focused on the capacity of the machines and the workforce. Therefore the weakness must have been in the planning of manufacturing and delivering of the products and overconfidence.
The core competencies: The financial planning and the technologies utilized for the production along the skills of the people are the core competencies. Instead of taking loans for capital in the initial period, it ploughed back the profit, which means its planning of business was very good.
2. Threats for the company.
The threats which the company mainly faced were from the liberalization period. The foreign company was allowed to enter India to trade and establish business. The private firms were given the powers to set up their business. And the recession also causes the problem. The Reiter Machines of Switzerland, which provided machines and technologies to LMW came to India and established its own company which provided the substitute for the products of the LMW Company. The customers of the LMW shifted itself towards the substitute products. They bought foreign second hand projects at cheaper cost than what was provided by LMW Company.
3. SWOT analysis:
Strength:
The company strengths were it planning and the technologies. The planning was done in such a way that it established itself in a very short period.
Opportunities:
The company can provide better products if it takes less projects. It can target small scale companies and provide them with quality products.
