Distracted driving is one of the main causes of accidents today; especially with all of this new technology out in the world today. Distracted driving can be caused by you distracting yourself with your cell phone or iPod, or it could be others in the car distracting you with their music they are blasting or telling you to look at something funny like a text or picture on their phone. distractions wether or not they are casued by you or others can be stopped, but the descision is really up to you. If you make the worng choice you could end up dead or with other serious injuries.
Lately these drivers have not been impaired by drugs or alcohol, but rather by cell phones. According to the United States Department of Transportation, there are three main types of distractions while driving: Visual- taking one's eyes off the road; Manual- taking one's hands off the wheels; and Cognitive- taking one's mind off what her or she is doing. Now imagine all three of these dangerous distractions occurring at one time when cell phones are used while driving. Statistics shows that use of cell phones while driving increases the risk of collision, injuries, and fatalities. Numerous states across the country have put in place laws to ban cell phone use and texting while driving, but many have not. The driving force for the safety of our families, loved ones and nation depends on laws being created in every state to help regulate this unsafe habit.
Have you ever thought that just eating a cheeseburger from the drive through could be distracted driving. well it could be the last burger you ever have in your entire life. A death from distracted driving not only afects you, but you dont realize the physical and mental pains.
