Kudler Fine Foods Network Design Project
When evaluation examining Kudler Fine Foods existing network I noticed most of it was old and outdated, and in order to keep it secure and increase the speed it is time for a major overhaul. If Kudler Fine Foods does not do a complete overhaul their network with the latest technology has to offer they will fall behind due to the advancement and high paced society in which we live in today. Many ask why not upgrade and save money? The reason why an upgrade is out of the question is because in reality and upgrade will cost more money because everything is so outdated. The new system does cost more money but if we look at the long term investment it will save money due to less maintenance and repairs, and also keep in mind future expansion. The areas the really concerned me the most about Kudler Fine Foods existing network was:
o T3 dedicated line WAN in use, T3 is not bad but can use improvement
o The Delmar and Encinitas stores are running IBM blade server system C3000 running UNIX as its OS, which can use improvment
o Delmar and Lajolla sites both are running Office 97 way outdated
o XLS servers also at the Delmar and Lajolla sites, "OUTDATED"

It is important that Kudler Fine Foods has proper connection speed in the network they are using because speed is a must when it comes to sales, restock, etc. According to Http://www.pcmag.com/encyclopedia_term/0,1237,t=wireless+lan&i=54773,00.asp (1981- 2013), A communications network that provides connectivity to wireless devices within a limited geographic area. "Wi-Fi" is the universal standard for wireless networks and is the wireless equivalent of wired Ethernet networks. In the office, Wi-Fi networks are adjuncts to the wired networks.
Kudler Fine Foods will also incorporate the Voice-over IP system for its main communication purposes. VoIP offers high quality telephone service at a low price, and this alone will help Kudler Fine Foods save thousands of dollars per year by switching to VoIP.
Another concern that comes to my attention was the use of Windows 98 on the host systems in all locations. This issue is what causes low speed on a network but easily fixed with the proper upgrade, with an operating system such as Windows 7, which in my own opinion is the best operating system as far as Microsoft goes. Also the
