Activity Instructions: Develop a project scope statement definition for your selected case study using the template heading.

Project Name: Kitchen Renovation

Project Objectives: The project will involve a complete renovation of the existing kitchen based on client specification, which include:

Everything in the kitchen except the crockery, food and cutlery is to go; crockery etc. will need to be stored somewhere - and there is little storage in the house.

Client will need somewhere to make coffee and heat the odd meal - throughout the renovation, and somewhere to keep the milk and other fridge items. Client doesn't want a huge fridge in the lounge room or anywhere else during the renovations.

Paint colour needs to tone with the benches - not sure what finish client wants on the benches - client would like samples and prices for consideration.

Stove, fridge and dishwasher need to be of good quality but not overpriced. Client would like some options. Recommendations will be made based on price and quality.

Client has concerns with her cat being an issue during the renovations as the cat has a habit of running around the house.

Renovations must be completed in five weeks. Client's mother is coming.

Project Scope Description: The project will cover the following parameters:

The team will store owner's identified kitchen equipment

Setup a temporary kitchen

Temporary area to isolate the cat interfering in the project site.

Remove existing kitchen 'junk'

Supply of relevant kitchen equipment

Kitchen equipment appropriate to client specification

Décor requirement based on client specification

Using licenced and qualified trades people for all works.

The total cost of the renovation to cover all cost inclusive of client specification and requirements

Relevant approvals from owner and council

Renovate the existing kitchen to client specification

Project Requirements: A micro look at the scope description:

All works to be carried out to Australian standards and local regulation

All works to be carried out by licenced tradesman

Access required to the building (site) to carry out works

Access required for parking

Payment time line required for works to continue.

Cat to be put in existing room in the house with a gate accessible to the owner so cat remains in the one area.

Project Deliverables: The project aims to deliver the following to the client:

High standard of quality and workmanship

Correct colour coordination - painting

Plan of what the new kitchen will look like

Progress reports of schedules

 Temporary kitchen installation plan

 Demolition of old kitchen

 Renovation works including cabinet works, plumbing electrical and appliances

 Isolated area for the cat identified

Final finishing inclusive of completion report of full scope of works

Project Acceptance Criteria: The following criteria will need to be achieved for the project acceptance:

That all works are to Australian standard

All works meet council requirements

All works meets client requirements

The kitchen is fit for purpose

The works are achieved with the timeline period

All works is within budget

There is appropriate waste removal system

The cat is well looked after in its isolated area in the house

The temporary kitchen satisfactory to client during the renovation process.

Project Assumptions and Constraints: the following assumptions have to be made for the project, these include the following:

The building is structurally sound and there will be no impact on the integrity of the building during the renovation process

The working environment is safe for staff, contractors and client

There will be clear and unrestricted access to and from site

Client has legal rights for works

Outlined working hours

Client is in a financial position to pay for works

Builder has access to power water supply for works

All works undertaken have material standard to specification

Timeline

 Works must be completed in five weeks from commencement

 Budget is fixed

 Appliance and equipment availability

 Availability of appropriate tradesman

 Noise - no works to be carried out before 6am or after 6pm.

 Parking on client's property only no parking on neighbour's property

 Space and work area is suitable for renovation works
